Super Termites
The super termite (C. formosanos) is considered to be the most destructive pest in the world. It is Thanks to increased interregional movement, we can now find this invasive species on Grand Bahama. The super termite is a type of subterranean termite, which means that they need soil contact and usually establish their colonies underground before moving up and into a structure.
Super termites are considered highly destructive due to several reasons:
+ Colonies can produce several million individuals, versus a regular subterranean colony of up to several hundred thousand

+ These termites are highly aggressive and resilient

+ They can forage for food up to 100m away, which means a single colony can potential infest a whole block of houses

+ They are known to chew through plastic, foam, asphalt and cement to get to their food
